Art Gave, and Art Hath Taken Away

Artistry
baptized me
in the rich soot
of my arched foot
Point, flex the muscles
of my soul are strong
and sacred and succulent and
sometimes salient
or esoteric
but always struck by seduction
and the sensuality of perpetual motion
of the mind

Artistry
chastised me
in the green dye
of my aged eye
Hide, seek the rhythms
of my pulse are plush
and potent and plenteous and
purely pious
or apathetic
but always struck by seduction
and the sensuality of perpetual motion
of the mind

Dancer: My dear friend, Gerard Alexander
